Happy Lunar New Year!

February 14, 2010

chúc mừng năm mới

Pink Ao Dai

Alexa celebrated her first Tết!!  We had a traditional meal with Peter’s family on New Year’s Eve.  Alexa showed off some of her new tricks!  She also wore the traditional dress of Vietnam, the Áo Dài (one of 3 purchased by her Australian Great Grandmother and Great Aunts :-)).  All of the family elders were very generous giving  Lì Xì (lucky money in red envelopes)!

Since New Year’s Day also fell on Valentine’s Day, we decided to spend the official holiday together as a family.  In true Vietnamese tradition, we did almost nothing today…the day is reserved for rest with those closest to you!

Here’s the photo album from lunch!

Wow, she is getting prettier every day it seems like! I love her little dress too, it’s really cool that you guys keep with tradition and are passing that on to her. Me and Kane are officially jealous! 🙂

Peter’s family is still pretty traditional for some Viet holidays….so it’s easy to follow along 🙂
