March Milestones

April 1, 2010

Wow, another month has passed…these weeks have been going by at lightning speed!

3.7 – We wrote about our new sleep arrangement.  Alexa has been doing very well sleeping in her crib for naps and the first part of the night, but we still haven’t worked out a way to put her back down (and get some sleep ourselves) after she wakes around midnight.  Sometime soon we’ll try…we have to.  In other sleep news, Alexa seems to be consolidating her naps (going from 2 daytime naps to 1).  We’ll have to see how this goes in April!

3.19 – That 6th tooth FINALLY broke through the surface and Alexa has been a MUCH happier baby.  It had been pushing on her gums for weeks!  Now our little girl has 6 teeth.  We don’t see any new ones cropping up just yet, though it’s harder to feel around in her mouth these days…she can really BITE!

3.22 – She’s blowing kisses.  Amber showed her on a whim that day, and she did it back!  Now, not only do we get adorable little waves hello and goodbye, we get super sweet kisses sent through the air 🙂

3.25 – Alexa has started to really let go of furniture, or us, when she’s standing.  She’ll hold her balance for a good long while now.  Those first steps are sure to be coming soon!

Some other things we forgot to log the dates on include:

STAIRS!  She found the stairs and thinks they’re fun.  She’s actually able to climb up a few before she loses interest.  Either that, or we stop her because she’s losing balance.  Peter has let her climb the whole staircase once.  Amber also held her hands while she “walked” up the porch steps, she’s getting tall enough to sorta step up.

Speaking of stepping up, Alexa has started to climb on top of all the other objects around the house.  Be it the bed (mattress on the floor), a turned over toy bin, a pile of toys.  She wants to be up up up.

We now know for sure that she’s able to tell that it’s her in the mirror, window reflection, or photo.  Also, when she sees her reflection, she looks back at us through the glass, rather than turning around.  Take a look at this photo where she’s making eye contact through the reflection.

I hope I can wait it out long enough to see her first steps. But the “real work” world is fast approaching I fear. Ahhhhh it’s ok, it’s for a good cause, to get us to Austin. The sooner the better 🙂
