February Updates

March 4, 2011

This month has been crazy!  We’ve had fairly major plans every weekend.  Birthday parties for friends and for Alexa Holidays with the family.  Lots of visits with everyone!  Even a month-long visit with Grammy Judy who was in town to help me while I prep for the biggest exam I’ve taken, maybe ever.  Basically, I can’t even remember what “bored” feels like since there’s never a free moment, and just barely enough time to get it all done.

Alexa turned TWO this month.  I’m not sure how I feel about having a child that’s age is no longer counted in months.  I’ve actually fretted over how to break the Flickr account sets up.  Hmmmm a folder for all of age 2 is way to big.  I’ll get back to you on that one LOL.

We had our first visit with a wedding venue this month as well.  I’ll write more about that later on a wedding specific post, but it was a good meeting!

So I’ll get down to it, the part you’re all waiting for.  What Alexa has been up to since the last updates:

  • She’s learned to take her jammies off.  Yup, unzips them and pulls them down.  Then back up.  Apparently it’s too cold to strip down to her diaper just yet!
  • She can now name and point out all of the following colors – Pink, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Orange, and Red.  We try to name the colors of just about everything we touch, and it looks like it’s paying off.  Really, we narrate almost everything we do when in the presence of miss Alexa.
  • She’s working harder on her deception skills.  Now she hides her empty hands behind her back and asks “where’d it go?”.  She also does this with toys hidden behind her back and in her pockets.  Super cute!
  • Our little smarty pants can now count to 4, then skips 5 and says 6 then 7.  She counts everything, but I think it started with us counting the stairs as she walked up or down them
  • She also knows parts of the alphabet song, and will call out A, B, C, J, W, and Y as the song plays or we sing.

Lots of really cool advances in Alexa’s vocabulary and cognitive abilities.  We’re so proud of her!

Learned to take her pj’s off…unzip
