Toddler Soccer

October 1, 2011

I forgot to write about this 2 weeks ago when Alexa started her first venture into the world of soccer.  We signed her up for a Pee Wee soccer clinic of sorts.  Basically it’s 15 2-4 year olds kicking wildly and crying at the ball.  Cute really.  The program is 45 minutes long and only 5 weeks.  Just a taste of the sport and some fresh air at Holmdel Park.

Both Peter and I attended the first practice.  The only session so far (last week was rained out).  Alexa hated it up until the last 5 minutes.  She normally loves to run around kicking and throwing balls, but not so much in *real* soccer.

It could be that she was one of the youngest kids there since it starts at 2.5, or maybe it was just the newness.  She was the same way with swimming this summer.  Peter took her alone this week as she he tends to do better with just one parent in the mix for whatever reason.

This will take us through the middle of October and depending on how she does or how she likes it we’ll sign her up again for an indoor season (if the waiting list opens up) or again in the spring.  We like to enroll her in different programs just to keep her active, get her used to being around large groups of kids, and to give us something planned to do with her.  I think it will be even more important to have this one-on-one time with her once the second baby arrives!

I’m all about Grace taking classes. I can’t wait until gymnastic starts. It’s going to be nice having the girls together on a weekly basis for a while. 🙂

I think I’ve decided to stay in the class and just beg you to help me flip Alexa if I can’t. I want the girls to have playtime together like we planned!
